Pamela Zilavy, M.A., M.S., L.Ac.,
Diplomate, Acupuncture and
Chinese Herbs (NCCAOM)

Pamela Zilavy earned a Master’s of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2000. She is a California Acupuncture Board licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, as well as nationally certified in acupuncture and herbology through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Pamela earned a Master of Arts degree in Education at San Francisco State University in 1989. Having always been drawn to the healing arts, Pamela earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Holistic Health from Antioch College in Seattle in 1980. As part of her undergraduate training, Pamela underwent a rigorous course of study in therapeutic massage at the Acadia School of Massage in Seattle, Washington, and earned state licensure in 1978. She also gained certification in Touch For Health® as part of her BA, which was the earliest basis for her interest in concepts of TCM for the control and alleviation of pain, specifically channel theory, point function, and five element theory.

Pamela began her study of T’ai Chi Ch’uan in early1976 in Wisconsin. Later that year, she moved to San Francisco and began studying with Master Benjamin Pang Jeng Lo at the Universal T’ai Chi Ch’uan Association, then located on Market Street. While in Seattle from 1978 – 1980, she continued her study with Sandy Shan-Tung Hsu, while traveling back and forth to the Bay Area for summer camps with Mr. Lo. Returning to San Francisco in 1980, she traveled to Taiwan and Malaysia with Mr. Lo in 1983, practicing and competing with Yang stylists who also hail from the distinguished lineage of Professor Cheng Man-Ch’ing. She was granted a Certificate of Form Instruction by Mr. Lo in 1984. Pamela has been known over the years in the Yang Style T’ai Chi martial art community as a competent practitioner and instructor. She has taught all ages of beginning and advanced practitioners, both in Europe and San Francisco.

Pamela is a member of several professional organizations, including RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association, the Chinese Herb Academy, and the California State Oriental Medical Association.
